Statement of Faith We believe:
-
Scriptures
We believe in the scriptures of
both the Old and New Testaments as being the verbally inspired word of God, and
completely inerrant in the original writings, and of Supreme and final
authority in faith and life (Rom. 15:4; 1Cor. 10: 11; 2Tim. 3: 16; 2Pet.l: 21)
Godhead
- We
believe in the triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son,
Holy Spirit (Mat. 28: 19- 20; 2Cor. 13: 14).
- We believe in God the Father, Almighty and
eternal, creator of all things, both visible and invisible (Gen. 1:1-2:.7;
lCor.8: 6; 2Cor.6: 18; l Tim. I: 17).
- We
believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, possessing two distinct
natures which are co-joined in one person; that He was miraculously conceived
by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless and miraculous
life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious substitutionary
death on the Cross, was physically resurrected in the same body that was buried
in the tomb by the power of the Holy Spirit; that Christ physically ascended
back to the right hand of God the Father in heaven, and ever lives to make
intercession for us, and who is coming again with great
power and glory.
After Jesus ascended to Heaven, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers
in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the gospel to the
entire world, an obligation shared by all believers (Mat.
l: 23; 16: 16; 24: 30; Jn. 5: 20; Acts 1: 9-11; 1 Cor.I5: 3-7).
- We
believe in the Holy Spirit is
the third person of the Godhead who inspired the prophets of the
Old and New Testaments and the apostles. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter that seals, indwells, sanctifies, baptizes,
teaches, empowers, reveals, and guides the believer into all truth. The Holy
Spirit gives gifts which are valid for today, and ought to be exercised within
scriptural guidelines. We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to
exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We
believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and
without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless(In.
14: 26: 16: 8; Acts 1: 8; IC 12: 4-11; Eph. 4: 11-12: 2 Pet. 1: 21).
Regeneration
We believe that man was created
without sin, that by voluntary transgression fell, and therefore, all human
beings are born with sinful nature. We believe that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are
offered as a free gift by the Lord Jesus Christ to all based on His grace
alone. When a person repents of sin and receives Jesus Christ as personal
Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again
and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person
becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord
(Gen. I: 26-31; 3: 1-24; Jn. l: 12-13; 3: 1-16; Rom. 5: 12-19; 6: 23-24; 10:
9-10).
Water
Baptism
-
We believe that the ordinance of
water baptism should be observed by all who have really repented and in their
hearts they have truly believed in Christ as Savior and Lord. In so doing, they declare to the world that
they have died with Jesus and that they have also been raised with Him to walk
in newness of life (Mat.28: 19-20; Mk.16: 16; Acts 10: 47-48; Rm. 6: 1-4).
The
Lord's Supper
We believe that the Lord's Supper,
consisting of the elements-bread and the fruit of the vine, is the symbol
expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ; a memorial
of His suffering and death; and a prophecy of His coming; and is enjoined on
all believers "until He comes" (l Cor. 11: 23-26; 2Pet.l: 4).
Holiness
We believe that Christians are
called to obey God's word and live a holy life, bear spiritual fruit and
glorify Jesus Christ (Lk. 8: 15; Gal. 5: 22-24; 2Tim.2: 19; Heb.12: 14; IPet.1:
15- 16; lJn.2:6; Jms. l: 22-25).
Second
Coming
We believe that our Lord Jesus
Christ will come again to establish his kingdom. He will raise the dead and
judge all human beings, the wicked shall be separated from God's presence, but
the righteous shall live with Him forever (Mt.25: 31-46; In.3: 16; Rev. 19:
11-14; 20: 1-7, 10-15).
Sanctifying Power
-
We believe in the
sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is
enabled to live a holy life (Romans
12:1-2; Galatians 5:16).
Marriage and Sexuality
We believe marriage is between one man and one woman only. We
honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexuality between wife and husband.
Sexual relationships outside the bonds
of heterosexual marriage (a marriage between a man and a woman) are unbiblical,
sin, and immoral (Gen 1: 26-28, 2:24, Romans 1: 24-27).
We believe in the scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments as being the verbally inspired word of God, and completely inerrant in the original writings, and of Supreme and final authority in faith and life (Rom. 15:4; 1Cor. 10: 11; 2Tim. 3: 16; 2Pet.l: 21)
